2008 V8 SUPERCARS NOW AVAILABLE With the 2008  V8 Supercar series finalised we must congratulate those in the decision process selecting this years Scalextric V8 line-up.
The V8 Championship points end with Jamie Whincup in first position. In addition his cars sponsor, Team Vodafone, has also won the Team points. Mark Winterbottom in his Ford Performance Racing team Falcon placed second followed closely by Garth Tander in his Holden.
So with the arrival of the 2008 Scalextric V8's we now have available Whincup's and Winterbottom's Fords and in the same delivery Tander's Holden driven in 2007.
NOT SO HUMBLE HUMMER The first HMMWV (aka Hummer) that rolled off the assembly  line in 1985 was a standard Military vehicle. With plans to begin a civilian version, promotion of the Hummer included driving two matching vehicles from London to Bejing across the rough roads of central Soviet Union. However, it was the use of the Hummer one year later in the 1991 Operation Desert Storm that got the publicity needed for Hummer.
Today the Hummer is classified as a luxury vehicle when used as a street vehicle, however, it is very popular in off road racing. Team Hummer Racing was created in 1993 and showcases the Hummer's abilities. Team Hummer has acheived one of the most impressive records in production class racing.
It is therefore no surprise, judging by the popularity of off road racing in Spain, that Spanish slot car manufacturer Power Slot has produced another
Hummer to their collection. This year we have already received 2 Hummer models and due to us in the next week is the red Toyotires Hummer used as an assistant team car for Robby Gordon in the 2006 Dakar Rally. This slot car version includes a drop arm if you are using it in rally slot car conditions but we continue to be impressed by the high detail on the slot car including spare tyre, petrol tanks, spade and whatever else they placed on the roof rack of the real version. These may not be the quickest car on your slot car track but like the real Hummer at least everyone else will get out of your way.
THE 79 When the Lotus 79 hit the F1 circuit in 1978 it was nicknamed the 'Black Beauty' for its graceful design, sleek profile and sponsorship by John Player Special. Due for release in 2009 Italian manufacturer Ostorero will be releasing this magnificant model along with the Lotus 79B.
As is usual from Ostorero these fully hand assembled models will bring much pleasure to those adding this model to their slot car collection.
Ostorero have kindly sent us a photo of the prototype of the 79 driven by Ronnie Peterson.
UP YOU GO Recently released from Ninco is the N-Lifter. This clever track accessory is a height adjustable support kit that can vary the elevation of your slot car track.
The N-lifter is not limited to Ninco track and can be used on straight or curved track of most 1:32 scale track brands including Scalextric and SCX.
The N-Lifter is fully adjustable for height and width and allows you to bank track sections. Now you can easily customise your own layout and add overpasses and elevated sections and bridges. The upright support bases are free standing and can be positioned at any angle.
The box includes 16 upright posts, 12 bases and 6 track supports allowing you to build 6 completed supports of various heights.

A FINAL NOTE FOR 2008: We at Armchair Racer would like to sincerely thank our customers for your support.
We have also been humbled by those of you who have put pen to paper or finger to keyboard to let us know what you think. During 2008 we increased our product range and introduced new makes not previously available in Australia. We have already started negotiating with other new manufacturers and our range will continue to expand in 2009.
We have also continued our support to various charities and community groups and this year we have donated to: Manly Lions Club; Barnardo's;
Artarmon Star Search; Corpus Christi School; St Pius X School; St Michaels School; Lane Cove West Public School; Northbridge Public School; Willoughby Public School; Taverners Hill Infants School; Harbord Kindergarten; Birrahlee Kindergarten; North Shore Temple Preschool; Willoughby Community Preschool; Kindergarten Union Greenwood and Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation.

RACING EVENTS:
Armchair Racer  racing events currently include
our regular Tuesday fortnightly meetings, kids racing events
are held during school holidays and various clubs hold
race meetings throughout the year. Corporate
events and birthday parties are also catered for. Our race tracks
include our original 6 lane, 26 metre length Ninco track and our
32 metre, 8 lane Carrera track. Both tracks are computer controlled giving you your lap
times down to 1:1000 of a second. Please note you require your own car on the 8 lane Carrera track.

not directly linked to our inventory some items showing in stock
may actually be unavailable. We will notify you if this is the
