#quiz

Welcome to #quiz - the irc channel where fans of quiz & trivia games can test their knowledge online

#Quiz is a fun and challenging trivia channel on the Australian OzOrg IRC network. Everyone is welcome to join us for some quizzes and a friendly chat. A wide variety of trivia questions are asked, so the games let you test your knowledge on anything from music, movies and television to archaeology, history and science!

Anyone can answer the questions - the quizzes are run by real people, so we can make allowances for wayward spelling and typing. The faq should answer most of your questions about how to take part. We even have quiz scripts so you can host games yourself!

Finding #quiz

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) allows you to communicate in real time with people from all over the world. It consists of various separate networks of IRC servers (machines that allow users to connect to IRC). #Quiz can be found on the Australian Oz.Org network.

To find us, you will need to run a program called a "client", connect to a server on the Oz.Org network (/server irc.oz.org) and then simply join #quiz. There is a list of servers on the oz.org site. For more information, the links page has a link to IRC help and a list of clients for different operating systems.

If you don't yet have a client such as mIRC, you can give #quiz a test run by using our java applet. Just choose a nickname for yourself, type it in the box on the right, and click 'Join #quiz' (you will need to grant permission when asked). Ideal practice for your next pub trivia night!

We don't run trivia bots, so commands like !trivia don't work. Real people run the quizzes, but if it's the middle of the night here in Australia, we may all be asleep!
